How We Estimate

Every calculator on this site uses the same model: a base value for your data type and volume, adjusted by a chain of modifiers, presented as a low–high range. Never a single "market price".

Base values

Each data type (CRM records, support tickets, contracts) has a base value per unit — for example, CRM records might range from $0.02 to $0.15 per contact. Base values are modeled assumptions informed by publicly reported licensing ranges and expert judgment. They are not transaction data.

The eight valuation modifiers

The base value is multiplied by each factor below. The bar shows the possible range; the tick marks the 1.0x baseline where the factor has no effect.

Data Structure & Cleanliness0.5x – 2.0x

Quality, completeness, and organization of the dataset. Cleaner data commands premium pricing.

Uniqueness & Exclusivity0.8x – 3.0x

How rare or exclusive the dataset is in the market. Unique data carries significant premium.

Sensitivity & Privacy Risk0.3x – 1.2x

Level of sensitivity and privacy regulation (GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA). Lower risk = higher value.

Data Age & Historical Depth0.6x (6 months) – 1.8x (5+ years)

How far back the historical record extends. Deeper history often increases value for trend analysis.

Exclusivity & Contract Terms0.8x (timed exclusive during beta) – 4.0x (full perpetual exclusivity)

Whether data can be sold only to one buyer or multiple buyers. Exclusivity dramatically increases value.

Volume & Scale Tier1.2x per-unit (massive: 1M+ records or 100GB+) – 0.7x per-unit (tiny: <1k records or <100MB)

Data volume affects per-unit value. Very large datasets may have lower per-unit cost but larger total value.

Market Demand & Buyer Appetite0.6x (low demand, niche use case) – 2.5x (very high demand, multiple buyers interested)

Current buyer demand for this type of data. High demand = higher premium.

Buyer Willingness & Strategic Value0.5x – 2.0x

Buyer's willingness to pay based on strategic fit and immediate ROI potential.

Why a range, never a single number

The low end applies conservative modifiers; the high end assumes clean, unique, well-anonymized data with strong buyer demand. The midpoint is illustrative. Where your data lands depends on quality, legal review and negotiation.

Limitations

These are rough estimates, not offers or guarantees. Actual value depends on buyer demand, data quality, legal review, and negotiation. We never present a number as a market price, and we never promise a sale, payout or timeline. Estimates are a starting point for conversation.

Assumptions last reviewed October 2026. Datasets are reviewed quarterly.
